Damian de Allende and RG Snyman cleared to join up with Springboks after fire pit accident

Munster's South African duo Damian de Allende and RG Snyman have been cleared to travel to South Africa after a fire pit accident.

The Springboks pair sustained burn injuries in an accident last month that also injured CJ Stander and Mike Haley.

And after receiving specialist treatment since the fire pit accident, the province has confirmed the pair will join up with the South Africa squad as they prepare to welcome the British and Irish Lions this summer.

“Munster’s Damian de Allende and RG Snyman have been cleared to travel to South Africa and will continue their respective recoveries under the care of the Springboks medical team,” Munster said.

“Both players had good reviews with the specialist this week having sustained burns in an accident earlier this month.

“De Allende and Snyman will both travel back to South Africa this week.”

Warren Gatland's Lions tour South Africa in July and August, with the first of three tests against the World Cup holders fixed for July 24 at Cape Town.

They'll travel to Johannesburg for the two other tests on July 31 and August 7.

Meanwhile, South Africa are looking forward to their first test matches since becoming world champions in 2019.

They'll face Geogia in a two-test series in early July.
