At the end of the programme, Lorraine said: "What a legacy, though, she'll leave behind.

"We send our thoughts to her friends and family."

The ITV programme paid tribute with a touching picture of the legendary singer as We'll Meet Again aired.

Lynn had celebrated her birthday in March and marked the occasion by releasing a new video for We'll Meet Again during the crisis.

A statement from her family read: "The family are deeply saddened to announce the passing of one of Britain's best-loved entertainers at the age of 103.

"Dame Vera Lynn, who lived in Ditchling, East Sussex, passed away earlier today, 18 June 2020, surrounded by her close family."
