Dame Sheila Hancock offers HUGE reward in TV appeal to find missing wedding ring

Dame Sheila Hancock has announced a £500 award for the return of a necklace holding her mother's wedding ring, her dad's signet ring and her two wedding rings.

The veteran actress appeared on Good Morning Britain and explained that after a night out at the theatre, she discovered the invaluable piece of jewellery was missing from around her neck.

Explaining the sentimental value to Ed Balls, Susanna Reid and Richard Arnold, Dame Sheila, 90, revealed the possessions it held around her neck and said it was the only item from her late father that she owned.

The actress stated that between leaving the theatre and arriving at her home, the necklace had gone missing leaving her incredibly upset.

"It's kind of sentimental rubbish," she told the hosts before adding: "I have it with me for big events and things like that.

"It may be tucked behind my shirt or on view but I don't know how I lost it."

Dame Sheila wore the necklace on Good Morning Britain last week (ITV)

Dame Sheila continued: "I went to a party afterwards and I was photographed wearing it, then I looked at some CCTV when I arrived home and I couldn't quite see it but it looks as though I could have possibly lost it on the walk between the theatre and the car."

She added that it was around her neck on a safety chain but could have taken it off in her chauffeured car but didn't know.

But Dame Sheila admits she hasn't contacted the police as they are "so busy" and no longer have the resources to store Lost and Found items.

"So have the feeling that somewhere out there," she said before adding: "There's somebody who's picked it up, and put it in their pocket thinking 'This is obviously some sentimental thing, what can I do with it?'," before saying her daughter launched a social media campaign for its return.

The former Celebrity Gogglebox star suggested that somebody should create a website to help reunite lost items with their owners.

In a direct appeal to GMB viewers, Dame Sheila said: "I am offering a reward, if they can contact me either through the BBC or ITV, or any of those placed and I believe my daughter has given a contact number on the web.

"Just let me know and I'll come anywhere in the country."

She went on to tell hosts Susanna and Ed: "£500, it means that much to me - if someone wouldn't want the money themselves, they can give it to a charity.

"I would give £500 to a charity anyway."
