Dame Mary Berry has said she loves her husband “far more now” after looking after him following a fall.
Speaking to Saga Magazine, Mary, 90, said it’s a “sheer pleasure” taking care of her partner Paul Hunnings, a long-retired book dealer who she married in 1966.
“He’s just had a tumble with broken ribs,” she told the magazine.
“I’m very sympathetic about that. But he’s getting better day by day. Soon we’ll have him back to his own old self.
"I love my husband far more now than I’ve ever done before. Now, in his dotage, he’s not so well.”

“It’s a sheer pleasure looking after him, because he’s so grateful,” she added.
“You know, he always comes first, that is the way I was brought up.
"He’s very thoughtful now and appreciates the things I do for him… I obviously have to do more now, but it’s a pleasure.
“The sadness of being 90 is that so many of your friends are no longer here. They’re dying, so I’ve got a lot of girlfriends who are not as fortunate as me in having a husband, which is a great sadness for them.”
Dame Mary has also said she still drinks a glass of white wine daily, and is staying active by walking her dogs every day.
"My mother was 105 when she died, so I’ve got pretty good genes,” she added.
“I’m immensely grateful for that. My fitness routine is to walk the dogs. Darcey and Freddie are working cocker spaniels."
Earlier this year, Mary said “respect” is the most important thing for a successful marriage.
Speaking to British Vogue, the former Great British Bake Off presenter said she had never raised her voice at her husband.
She said: “Love, of course, but respect is so important.
“And I don’t count the decades too closely.
“We never raise our voices at each other because, you know, we love each other.
“If I’m a bit miffed, I very often think, ‘Well, I’m not gonna say that right now’.
“I’ll go to the greenhouse and do some cuttings.”
