Dame Julie Andrews to discuss her new memoir in an exclusive appearance at Southbank Centre

Dame Julie Andrews is set to make an exclusive appearance at the Southbank Centre later this year.

The one-time event on November 2 will see the star of stage and screen discuss her new book Home Work: A Memoir of My Hollywood Years with actor Alex Jennings in Royal Festival Hall.

She will recount her career as a number of much-loved characters from her feature film debut as Mary Poppins to Maria Von Trapp in The Sound of Music. She will discuss her time as a stage actress, including her acclaimed performance as Eliza Doolittle on Broadway, and her more recent pursuits in The Princess Diaries, Despicable Me and Shrek.

Three-time Olivier Award-winning actor Jennings recently appeared on the Royal Festival Hall stage in The Light in the Piazza and in 2016, he played Henry Higgins in a 60th anniversary production of My Fair Lady directed by Dame Julie herself.

The conversation will be followed by a Q&A with the audience.

The Southbank Centre’s autumn literature season also includes appearances from Louis Theroux, Hannah Gadsby, Malorie Blackman and Antoni Porowski from Queer Eye.

Tickets will go on sale to the public on Wednesday July 31. Each ticket includes a copy of Home Work: A Memoir of My Hollywood Years.
