Dame Judi Dench and Sharleen Spiteri amaze Scots pub goers with impromptu performance

A Scots pub has been left stunned after two famous faces hijacked the piano to perform an impromptu Abba duet during Hogmanay celebrations.

Dame Judi Dench and Texas singer Sharleen Spiteri broke into song at the Fife Arms in Braemar in the early hours of Sunday morning.

A clip of the duo performing has gone viral after being posted to social media by Ewan Venters, CEO of Artfarm, who owns the venue. Judi Dench can be seen playing the piano as she and Spiteri sing along to the famous tune in the 23-second clip.

Spiteri can be heard complementing Dench as she exclaims "what a pianist!" as the two share the piano seat. The video which has garnered around 23,000 views was posted by Venters with the caption 'GLOBAL EXCLUSIVE - Dame Judi Dench gigs with Sharleen Spiteri at The Fife Arms, Braemar - future dates are in the planning. Watch this space, meantime, HAPPY NEW YEAR!.'

Delighted fans have taken to social media to express their admiration for the unlikely duo.

One wrote: "This needs to happen. What a unforgettable way to see in 2023, and in the glorious setting of the Cairngorms, too."

Another added: "Is there anything Judi Dench canny do? Brilliant."

A third said: "So wish I was there!"

A fourth person wrote: "The ability to sing or play an instrument like this must be an absolute dream....don't have either I'm afraid...."
