Dame Jilly Cooper leaves her children £8.5m in will

  • Dame Jilly Cooper , the celebrated author known for her 'bonkbuster' novels, died aged 88 last October following a fall at her Bisley home.
  • Probate records reveal that Cooper left an estate with a net value of £8,557,118 after liabilities were settled from a gross value of over £9 million.
  • Her fortune will be equally divided among her beneficiaries, including her children Felix and Emily, and her stepdaughter Laura.
  • Cooper's literary legacy includes the novel Rivals , which has recently been adapted into a hit Disney+ TV series starring David Tennant and Danny Dyer.
  • She was honoured for her contributions to literature and charity, receiving a CBE in 2018 and being made a Dame in 2024, with her funeral attended by notable figures including Queen Camilla.
