Damage to Holme Pierrepont footpath revealed as flood waters recede

New images show the severe damage flood water has caused to a footpath in the wake of Storm Christoph.

The picture was taken at Holme Pierrepont near to where the boating lake links to the white water rafting area.

The country park has been closed to visitors due to rising levels of the River Trent and subsequent flooding, with alerts still currently in place.

There has been disruption on roads and travel over the past week after heavy rainfall and snow melt led to the river bursting its banks in areas across Nottinghamshire.

Derek Higton, service director for place and communities at Nottinghamshire County Council, said: “Recent heavy rain due to Storm Christoph saw river levels rise at Holme Pierrepont.

“Holme Pierrepont Country Park was closed to visitors for safety reasons, and receding flood waters have shown damage to a footpath.

“We are working closely with the Holme Pierrepont Leisure Trust and Serco to organise and commence repairs to the path as soon as possible.”
