The spirit of volunteerism is running high among Thais as was recently demonstrated during the mission to rescue the 12 "Wild Boars" and their coach in the flooded Tham Luang cave in Chiang Rai earlier this month.
Some of the rescuers have this week embarked on a new mission that could be less complex and challenging but more tragic in scale.
That mission is to help thousands of flood victims in Attapeu province of southeastern Laos following a dam collapse on Monday, which unleashed a torrent of water amid heavy rain and washed away numerous villages downstream.
