Dalymount Park will be 'best stadium in the league' as redevelopment moves step closer

Bohemians believe Dalymount Park will be the best ground in the League of Ireland after its redevelopment moved a step closer today.

The Department of Finance has released €918,750 in funds to Dublin City Council towards the regeneration of the famous Dublin venue.

That total - which was pledged a year ago and allocated in January - will go towards planning and design work ahead of the Bohs and Shelbourne ground share.

Minister for Finance Paschal Donohoe said: “This is really important not just for Bohs, not only for soccer but for the continued regeneration of Phibsborough”.

Capacity at the new ground was reduced to 6,000 all-seater in 2019 but the plan is for Bohs and Shels to be in situ by 2024.

Bohemians will move to Tolka Park for two years from the start of the 2022 season while work is carried out.

Today, the Gypsies said: “The home of Irish football will soon, once again, be the best stadium in the league.

“It will deliver enormously for ourselves, Shelbourne, the wider community and city.”
