Dalvin Cook, Alvin Kamara agree to contract extensions

The Minnesota Vikings’ Dalvin Cook and the New Orleans Saints’ Alvin Kamara will be running … to the bank.

The pair selected in the 2017 NFL Draft agreed to lucrative contract extensions Saturday, on the eve of their season openers.

Cook, a second-round pick out of Florida State, has agreed to a five-year, $62.5 million contract.

The deal includes a $15.5 signing bonus and $28.2 million in guaranteed money. Cook will have an average salary of $12.5 million per year.

Cook has yet to play a full season. In 29 games, he has rushed for 2,104 yards and caught passes for another 914. He was derailed by injuries in his first two seasons.

Kamara, a third-round selection out of Tennessee, reached an agreement on a five-year contract extension worth $75 million in new money, per a source informed of the pact. Kamara will get $77.13 milliion overall and a $15 million signing bonus.

Kamara is a three-time Pro Bowler and has rushed for 2,408 yards and caught passes for another 2,068 with New Orleans.
