Dalton Risner couldn’t be happier about playing for the Broncos

Kansas State offensive lineman Dalton Risner, who grew up in Colorado, couldn’t be happier about being selected by the Denver Broncos in the second round of the 2019 NFL draft.

During a conference call with reporters on Friday, Risner described the moment he saw the area code when Denver’s front office called him.

“I saw Denver, Colorado, and definitely tears were in my eyes,” Risner said. “Something I’ve wanted for a long time. I’m just excited to prove them right that they made a good pick at 41. I’m going to work for them and make them proud that they chose me.”

Risner is expected to compete for the team’s starting right guard position right away. It’s safe to say he’s excited about landing with his hometown team.

“Throughout the process I constantly told people how much I loved the Broncos,” Risner said. “I kind of had to tone it down a bit because I think teams were kind of wondering if I wanted to go anywhere but the Broncos. I think it worked out pretty good.”

We have a feeling Risner will quickly become a fan favorite.
