Dalton Risner aims to help Broncos become Super Bowl contenders again

The Denver Broncos won Super Bowl 50 four seasons ago but they haven’t returned to the playoffs since then. Over the last few years, Denver has built a young core of players and those players are aiming to help the team return to the postseason in 2020.

Broncos guard Dalton Risner earned PFWA All-Rookie Team honors last season but he’s not satisfied with his performance, which is exactly the kind of mentality needed for Denver to return to relevance.

“I watched some of my film from last year, and to be honest, I shake my head,” Risner said on Aug. 6. “I’m like, ‘I have so much to improve upon.’ I can be so much better of a player than I was. This year, I want to have a good season as a team. That’s my man overall thing. I don’t care if we go 2-14 and I might be a Pro Bowler or an All-Pro. I don’t care.

“I want to go and be a 12, 14-win team this year and do the things I know we are capable of. . . . I want to be better as a team, and I want to get the Broncos back to being playoff contenders and Super Bowl contenders.”

Those words won’t mean much if they’re not followed up with action but the Broncos certainly appear to be trending in the right direction.
