Dalmuir train fire: police launch search for children who caused £5k damage with blaze

British Transport Police are searching for two children who set fire to seats on a Balloch to Airdrie train and caused delays for fellow passengers.

The callous act of vandalism happened between 9.40am and 10.10am on Wednesday, April 3.

The two boys, thought to be around 12 or 13, are believed to have lit the fire then pressed the train’s emergency button.

Officers are searching for anyone who witnessed the incident to get in touch - they are particularly keen to track down the person who tried to stop the boys boarding the train, and another person who filmed the suspects on their phone at Dalmuir station.
