Dalmatian-obsessed family give their Christmas tree a spotted Disney theme

A Cardiff family have decked their Christmas tree with Dalmatian-themed decorations to celebrate the spotty dogs.

Nichola McMullen, from Splott, has always been Dalmatian mad and decided to give her Christmas tree a Disney makeover this year.

Her tree is covered in 101 decorations including hand-painted baubles and spotty items from around the house.

It also has a Cruella de Vil wig as a tree topper.

The 31-year-old said: “A lot of the tree is decorated with things from around the house. I found two of my scarves and wrapped them round.

"There's also my daughter's costume and my daughter’s bedroom wall decorations.

“There’s even some McDonald's Happy Meal toys from the 1990s that I can remember getting. The red bows are actually my daughter's hair bows.”

Nichola got creative with the tree skirt too – she bought a plain white skirt from Asda for £9, and cut and glued spots and bows onto it.

The mum-of-three added: “I would love to have a spotty tree every year. We might look around for a few different Dally decorations for next year just to change it up a bit.

“The dogs do take an interest in the tree – I think the spots draw them to it.”

Nichola, who owns a Dalmatian named Puds, says her obsession with the breed started from a young age and runs in the family.

She has always been around Dalmatians as her grandma owned one - and even has baby pictures of herself dressed in spotty outfits.

She said: “We are quite Dalmatian obsessed and we have a couple of rooms in the house also Dalmatian themed.

“Our two-year-old daughter Layla-Rose is obsessed with spots and anything Dalmatian related which reminds me of myself as a youngster.

Nichola had a Dalmatian-themed party for her 30th birthday (Nichola McMullen)

“I was also lucky enough to have a 30th Dalmatian-themed party thrown for me last year which was great.”

But the celebrations don’t stop there as Nichola hosted a party for Puds and her chihuahua Molly for their birthdays in August.
