Dalmarnock Road police incident: Royal Navy bomb disposal team confirmed at scene in Glasgow

Bomb disposal experts are at the scene of an ongoing police incident in the east end of Glasgow.

Police shut down a section of Dalmarnock Road to traffic after arriving earlier this morning.

The Royal Navy have confirmed that a bomb disposal team are at the scene to support officers.

A Royal Navy spokesman said: "I can confirm that a Royal Navy bomb disposal team from Northern Diving Group, based at HM Naval Base Clyde, are attending the scene in support of Police Scotland.

"Drivers are advised to use an alternate route."

Dalmarnock Road is closed in both directions and Baltic Street is closed at Garval Street, Glasgow City Council's traffic control and management service said.

Glasgow City Council have confirmed the street has been closed off eastbound at the junction of Springfield Road.

The Council's Traffic Control and Management team (TRAFFCOM) confirmed: "Due to a Police incident, Dalmarnock Road is closed eastbound at Springfield Road until further notice.

Drivers are advised to use an alternate route."

Meanwhile, local bus services have been diverted.
