CHICAGO _ Dallas Keuchel allowed a single to Cole Tucker on the first pitch Wednesday at Guaranteed Rate Field.
Any potential drama of no-hitters on consecutive days for the Chicago White Sox quickly went out the window. Instead, the Sox had to settle for another strong outing by Keuchel.
The left-hander allowed two runs on four hits with seven strikeouts and three walks in six innings, leading the Sox to a 10-3 victory against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Danny Mendick, Edwin Encarnacion, Eloy Jimenez and Jose Abreu homered as the Sox completed the sweep of the two-game series.
Mendick's two-run home run came during a four-run second. Encarnacion hit a solo homer in the fourth and Jimenez hit a three-run homer in the fifth.
Abreu's two-run homer _ his 12th of the season _ came in the seventh.
The Sox were back on the field with the Pirates less than 24 hours after Lucas Giolito's no-hitter, the 19th no-hitter in team history. Giolito allowed one walk and struck out 13 in the 4-0 victory.
Keuchel surrendered four singles Wednesday.
His only trouble came in the sixth. He walked three in the inning and allowed a two-out, two-run single to Jacob Stallings. Keuchel then retired Adam Frazier with a ground out to end the inning and to end his day.
Keuchel improved to 5-2 as the Sox (19-12) won for the ninth time in 10 games.
