Dallas Cowboys confident of re-signing four-man group "they feel good about"

The Dallas Cowboys are "confident" that they will be able to re-sign cornerback Trevon Diggs, wide-receiver CeeDee Lamb, defensive-end/linebacker Micah Parsons, and quarterback Dak Prescott.

Diggs, 24, is entering the final year of his rookie deal with the Cowboys, while Lamb and Prescott have two more seasons before they could become unrestricted free agents. Parsons, meanwhile, has three years left at Dallas, and the franchise also has a fifth-year option which they can trigger on his rookie deal.

And according to The Athletic, the NFL franchise isn't sweating over the futures of the four roster members. The report states that the Cowboys are "confident" that they will re-sign all of their stars, securing their long-term futures.

Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said Wednesday: "That group, we feel really good about. I feel as we move forward it will all be about timing. But feel good that we can work within the parameters of the cap and make those types of things happen.

"And we have to continue to do well in the draft to make things like that happen. We have to continue to have guys step up and play, because along the way, if we want to do those (contracts) then we’ll have to make some tough decisions in other spots.”

Jones has also previously called for calm over contract extensions even if fresh terms haven't been agreed upon before the start of the 2023/24 season. "We want to work on all of the above," he said. "We’ll just see how this thing plays out. You can’t dictate when things happen and the timing. It takes two sides. … I wouldn’t say just because we don’t get it done by the start of the season, it doesn’t mean we’re not going to ultimately sign them.”

Diggs, Lamb, and Prescott have all weighed in on their contract situation with the Cowboys, and all have expressed their desire to continue in Dallas. “Hopefully something gets figured out,” Diggs said. “I love Dallas. I love being here. So, I don’t know. We’ll see.”

“I’m very excited,” Lamb said on the Cowboys. “Dallas is somewhere I’ve always wanted to be. I don’t see myself really wearing any other jersey. I don’t really want to get into too much detail on that, but I’m definitely excited for the future.”

“As (Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones) has said, it might happen overnight,” an unfazed Prescott said. “Who knows, right? But that’s not any of my concerns or in my thought process.”
