Dallas Cowboys bus crash: 4 killed in Arizona collision

A bus carrying staffers for the Dallas Cowboys was involved in a fatal collision with a passenger van while traveling on an Arizona highway. Four people in the van were killed in the crash.

The van reportedly made an illegal turn onto US highway 93 when it collided with the bus, which contained no players on Sunday afternoon, WFAA reported. Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) officials confirmed that three women and one man were in the van – two adults and two teen, according to KTNV.

Officials are currently investigating the accident.

“Any loss of life while traveling on the road is heartbreaking and tragic,” said Lt Col Dan Lugo, assistant director of the Highway Patrol Division of the AZDPS. “When driving on our highways and byways drivers need to always be cautious and aware of road and traffic conditions around them.”

The four staffers aboard the Cowboys’ bus were sportswriter Mickey Spagnola, videographer Jason Walraven, team mascot ‘Rowdy’, and the driver.

“All on the bus came through OK with some bumps and bruises,” said Cowboy spokesperson Rich Dalrymple.

The bus was en route to an event in Las Vegas, where the Cowboys were scheduled for a meet-and-greet at 3 pm Sunday afternoon.

The team is currently on a road trip ahead of their summer training camp, which starts Thursday in Oxnard, California.
