Dalbeattie woman to take part in sponsored skydive for the Samaritans

A Dalbeattie woman is bracing herself to plunge thousands of feet for charity.

Sarah Fergusson is set to take part in a skydive in July to raise money for the Samaritans.

It’s the third year she has taken on a challenge for the organisation which provides emotional support to people in need.

Sarah, who works for Walker and Sharpe in Dumfries, said: “I always try to do something for the Samaritans. It’s such a great service and think its important people know there is someone there and it’s okay to talk about mental health.

“I did a marathon before and last year I had to run so many miles in a month. I thought this year I’d do something a bit different and it’s something that’s always been on my bucket list so I thought it was a chance to kill two birds with one stone.”

Sarah is hoping to raise £400 for the Samaritans with each £5 raised enough to pay for one call for a helper to speak to a suicidal person.
