Dalbeattie Tennis Club hosted and sponsored a LTA mini red competition for players aged eight and under recently.
Eleven players entered from across the region with some entering their first ever tournament. These events have been running across the region on different surfaces which allows the kids to experience different challenges in various surroundings.
The event was run by Mike McMillin from Advance Tennis who has been coaching a lot of these kids along with Mark Sindall over the last 12 months.
After the initial league format players were drawn into a Champions League knock out section and Europa league. The Champions League final was a family affair with Eamon and Isla McFarlane of Stewartry Community Sports Club going head to head in the final. With some great rallies throughout the match it was Eamon who edged his big sister.
In the Europa League Seumus Clark just edged out fellow Kirkcudbright club member Betsy Porter.
