Dalbeattie Star sign Queen of the South youngster Connor Potts on loan

Dalbeattie Star have brought in Queen of the South youngster Connor Potts.

The forward has arrived at Islecroft on loan and is the latest addition to Ritchie Maxwell’s squad for the new Lowland League season.

He said: “We have been looking to add another attacking option and when Connor became available we moved quickly to sign him.

“He had other offers but he was keen to come here so it is good we have someone who wants to play for Dalbeattie.

“He can play anywhere across the front three and I think it is important to have a good relationship with Queens as they are the local professional club.

“We would still like to add another one but as things go on players are getting signed up.

“Hopefully we can add them by October 10, if not before, so that we can get them involved in friendly games.”

Star have lined up friendlies against Queens, Annan and Stranraer and are hopeful of taking on sides in the South and West of Scotland League.

The new season will start with a trip to the Indodrill Stadium to face BSC Glasgow on October 10.

That will be followed by back-to-back games at Islecroft, with Gala Fairydean Rovers providing the opposition on October 14 before East Stirlingshire arrive on
October 17.

Maxwell added: “It’s a difficult start as they have been up in the top four for the last two or three games. However, I think with the level the league is at now that whoever you are playing would have been difficult.

“I just think it’s good we have the fixtures out and we have something to aim for.”
