Dalbeattie Primary School pupils enjoy busy return to classes for 2020-21 session

It’s been a busy eight weeks at Dalbeattie Primary School since pupils returned fo the 2020-21 session.

Deputy head teacher Alex Howie was delighted to see how well the children have settled back in.

Strict Covid-19 measures have centred around hand hygiene and organisation of bubbles involving staggered playtimes, lunchtimes and start and end of days.

The school community has taken the new arrangements in its stride – with the added bonus of more lessons outdoors and new play equipment.

Ms Howie said: “The pupils have been engaging well with their learning, particularly our outdoor learning where we have spent increasing time, embedding it across the curriculum.

“We are particularly grateful to Dalbeattie Rotary Club who have made a donation of £750 for the school to purchase more equipment.

“We are also very pleased to see exciting learning going on in our ‘outdoor nurture area’ where we have the mud kitchen and large construction loose bits.”

Ms Howie thanked Stewartry Tyres for the donation of tyres, Jas P Wilson for logs and J and J Currie for pallets.
