Dalbeattie Primary School marked the start of Fairtrade Fortnight with a morning snack made with food from the brand.
Donations from local businesses Co-op, Tesco and Kinnairds meant there was a choice of Fairtrade bananas or specially crafted shortbread biscuits made with Fairtrade ingredients and topped with chocolate and jelly beans. Money raised will go to the Fairtrade Foundation.
The same day, primary five, together with the school’s eco committee, listened to an informative presentation by Mary van Zwanenberg which included an interesting film, Guardians of the Rainforest.
The end of Fairtrade Fortnight will be marked at assembly on Friday with a small play by the eco committee.
