Dalbeattie Makers Market is a smash hit despite the wild weather

Dalbeattie Makers Market turned out to be a smash hit on Saturday – despite the wild weather.

The parish church hall on Craignair Road was packed out with stalls and saw a steady stream of customers.

Delicious offerings on display included Ukrainian bread made by Vika Sushitska, a refugee from the war in her country.

Around two dozen crafters and food sellers supported the event which is held on the first Saturday of every month.

Organisers Linda Fricker and business partner Clare Marshall started the market to provide a shop window for local micro-businesses.

Linda said: “It was a wonderful day despite the rainy weather earlier on.

“It was a fabulous market and now we are all geared up for our Dalbeattie and Kirkgunzeon Parish Church fundraising Christmas event on Wednesday, November 23, from 3.30pm to 8pm.”

The market will return to Dalbeattie Parish Church Hall with Christmas-themed event on December 3.

A special guest will be in attendance with pressies for all the children, we are told.
