Dalbeattie High School's annual producers market attracts more than 200 customers

More than 200 people packed into Dalbeattie High School for its annual producers market.

S3 home economics pupils worked with local food producers on the range of goods to be offered for sale.

Sales were brisk and the market was a great success, with the burger team in particular hard-pressed to keep up with demand.

Home economics teacher Alison Houston thanked everyone for their support and patience for making the project such a hit.

She said: “The event was well attended and, although not a sell-out, each group sold nearly all of their products.

“A few pupils were a little tired and emotional at school as they were on their feet for the whole day.

“The Cheeky Burger team will no doubt be complaining of repetitive strain injuries as they hand-pressed over 600 burgers in just under four hours.”
