Dalbeattie couple get 2022 off to the best possible start with arrival of baby Darcie Debra

The new year got off to the best possible start for Pamela McGlone and Matthew Robinson.

Their beautiful little girl Darcie Debra was the first baby of 2022 to be born at Dumfries Infirmary on Saturday.

Darcie was a week early and made her appearance at 10.06am weighing 6lb.

Proud mum Pamela, 33, said the family are “thrilled” with their new arrival, who is now settling in at home at Park Terrace in Dalbeattie with big sisters Poppie, aged three, and 20-month-old Myla.

She added: “I was due on January 8 but had a feeling she’d come early.

“I went into labour around 9pm on Friday night.

“The midwives at the hospital said they thought she might be the first of the year to be born.

“Matthew was with me when she arrived just after 10am and we were back home by 5.30pm that day.

“It’s really special that she was born on New Year’s Day. It’s just lovely.”

Dad Matthew, 26, who works at Russell Roof Tiles, is now off for two week’s of paternity leave to spend time with his newborn.

Pamela, a carer for Stewartry Care, laughed: “I’ll be glad of the help because when I first looked at all three of our girls together, I thought, “oh my goodness”.

“But we are thrilled to have Darcie, and delighted that she’s got such a special birthday.”
