Dalbeattie brightened up by stunning new mural at Paterson ATV

A striking new mural is helping to brighten up Dalbeattie.

A wall at Paterson ATV has been transformed with a painting featuring the firm’s founder James Paterson.

It was carried out by Paisley based artist Mark Gorrie — who goes by the name Mark Worst — on behalf of the company’s current owner — and James’ grandson — Mark.

He said: “I came up with the idea a few years ago when I was on an American motorcycle road trip and saw a similar idea on the High Voltage Tattoo building which was on the TV show LA Ink.

“I thought I’d like to get it done on the back of the garage some time.

“I contacted a graffiti artist and got him to do a big mural on the inside of my house. I decided to get him to come back to do this.

“It’s in black and white but it brightens it up and adds some interest.”

The painting is a mix of two photographs featuring James — known as Jimmy — who started the company after WWII.

The mural can be seen on the exit to Water Street car park.
