Daithi O'Se gets birthday surprise at home and on The Today Show

RTE presenter Daithi O'Se was given a big birthday surprise live on television on Tuesday.

During the Today Show the host was surprised by his coworkers with a birthday cake on air while guest Derek Ryan sang him a happy birthday.

Daithi thanked his co-star Maura, the crew and guest Derek Ryan for the lovely surprise after he blew out the candles.

Back at home O'Se's wife, former Rose of Tralee Rita O'Se, surprised him in the morning with candles in his weetabix before he headed to work.

She documented the surprise on her Instagram story, captioning it: "Daithi O'Se heading to work so candles in the Weetabix."

Daithi's wife Rita also suprised him at home. (Instagram)

As shown in the video Rita also decorated their kitchen with balloons for the occasion.

In the background of the video Daithi can be heard saying: "You frightened me again, it isn't funny at all."
