Daisy Ridley shares honest Instagram 'spot cream' selfie to prove social media is just an edited version of reality

After recently warning fans not to believe everything they see on Instagram, Daisy Ridley has practiced what she preaches and shared what many wouldn’t dare on social media.

The Star Wars actress shared two photos with her near two million Instagram followers on Monday.

The first showed Ridley dressed up and wearing make-up to the Oscars Vanity Fair afterparty with the caption: “I’m currently sat writing an essay covered in spot cream drinking mint tea but no one wants to see that so instead here’s me looking all fancy pants”.

However, she soon decided against that and shared that the photo of her current state to celebrating almost reaching the two million mark. The picture has so far received over 150,000 likes.

Last month, the 24-year-old revealed how her skin was a source of insecurity for her. “My skin isn’t great so I don’t post ‘no make-up selfies’ as much as I’d like to,” she wrote.

In the post, Ridley urged her followers not to take everything they see on social media at face value. “Social media is great but also a bit scary because what people post is the most filtered, most carefully chosen and cleverly edited moments of their lives.”
