Daisy May Cooper and Selin Hizli to star in new comedy thriller on BBC One

Fans of BBC's mockumentary This Country will be thrilled to hear that co-creator Daisy May Cooper is returning with a brand new comedy-thriller billed to be a big hit.

Daisy has teamed up with fellow actress and friend Selin Hizli (Deadwater Fell ) to create, write and star in the new as-yet-untitled show set for BBC One.

Daisy and Selin are fronting the show, as Nic and Jen; mums trapped in a toxic friendship.

The show was recently confirmed by the BBC. Writer-creator Daisy says: "So excited to be writing this with my best friend and the funniest person I know on a subject that I think sums us up perfectly…. Toxic friendship."

Jack Thorne, His Dark Materials and This is England , is joining them as Executive Producer alongside Eric and Ernie director Jonny Campbell and Psychobitches producer Pippa Brown.

The comedy thriller is a Boffola Pictures and Lookout Point co-production.

What is the series about?

The BBC have described the series as a “twisted comedy thriller about two mums, marital angst, maternal paranoia and a dead cat,” which shows “female friendship at its naughtiest and most intoxicating.”

Jen arrives in town with her son Harry and disrupts Nic’s lonely life with fun, laughter and booze. Nic’s son Ollie also finds a new friend in Harry. Female friendship at its naughtiest and most intoxicating. That is until everything unravels.

Where is it being filmed and who will join the cast?

We don't have details on the cast yet beyond Daisy and Selin, but it should be announced soon. We do know what the series will film in Bristol and around the West Country.

Where can you watch it and how many episodes are there?

The comedy thriller will be airing on BBC One, and later available on BBC iPlayer.

There will be six 30 minute episodes in this series.
