Dairy Milk launch 'diet chocolate bar' for slimmers with far less sugar

Chocolate lovers can now choose a diet-style Dairy Milk after its maker released a version with 30 per cent less sugar.

Cadbury last night insisted it “still tastes great” and will go on sale along with the traditional bars.

Cadbury say they took three years to achieve the reduced sugar content with no artificial sweeteners. Brand manager Katrina Davison said: “We’ve recognised that there is an increasing trend for people wanting to manage their sugar intake and that’s why we have worked tirelessly to create a Cadbury Dairy Milk bar with 30 per cent less sugar which stills tastes great.

“We are committed to responding to relevant consumer trends, and are always striving to offer chocolate lovers greater choice through exciting innovations and portion control offerings.”

Cadbury owner Mondelez International has described the new bar as the “most significant innovation in the brand’s history”.

The company has similar sugar reduction plans for other lines such as Oreo and Maynards Bassetts Wine Gums and Jelly Babies products.
