-- Brian Gaine, Texans director of pro personnel, 41, just finished his first season with the Texans , during which he added to his extensive background on the pro scouting side. And he does have some college scouting experience. Before joining the Texans, he held high-ranking positions in the Dolphins', Cowboys' and Jets' scouting departments. Gaine worked for Bill Parcells with all three teams. Parcells and Bears consultant Ernie Accorsi have deep roots with the Giants.

Speculation is that the Bears would prefer to hire a general manager first, then pursue a head coach.
-- Todd Bowles, Cardinals defensive coordinator, 51, is scheduled to meet with the Bears on Saturday. He played eight seasons as a safety with the Redskins and 49ers (1986-93). Included on his coaching resume was a four-year stint as assistant head coach/secondary coach with the Dolphins, including a three-game stint as head coach in 2011.
-- Ryan Pace, Saints director of player personnel, is believed to have a GM interview scheduled for Wednesday. Pace, 37, oversees the Saints' college and pro scouting operations. In 2013, the former Eastern Illinois defensive end was promoted to his current role after six seasons as the Saints' director of pro scouting.

-- Chris Ballard, Chiefs director of player personnel, is scheduled to interview Wednesday, two sources said. Ballard, 45, was the Bears' Southwest area scout from 2001-11 and their director of pro scouting in 2012. During his tenure, he helped scout draft picks Matt Forte, Charles Tillman, Tommie Harris and Cedric Benson.

The Bears began the interview process for their head-coaching position.
-- Dan Quinn, the Seahawks' defensive coordinator, interviewed for the Bears' coaching job. In his first season as Seahawks' defensive coordinator in 2013, Quinn, 44, energized a defense that fueled Seattle's charge to a Super Bowl championship. This season, the Seahawks put together the league's No. 1 run defense.
