Daily Mirror scoops top journalism award for Change the Law for Life Campaign

The Daily Mirror’s Change the Law for Life campaign on organ donation has scooped a top journalism award.

For three years, we led calls for England to adopt an opt-out system and last month Max and Keira’s Law got Royal Assent.

Now, our campaign has been recognised with the Chairman’s Award at the Society of Editors’ Press Awards in London.

Judges said we had “shown tenacity, compassion, superb writing and dogged determination”.

Max and Keira’s Law was named after Max Johnson, 11, and his heart donor Keira Ball, nine.

Max’s mum Emma Johnson, 48, of Winsford, Cheshire, said: “The Mirror deserves recognition.”

And our Ros Wynne-Jones was named feature writer of the year for her Wigan Pier series.
