Daily Mirror live gives readers sneak peak into how paper is really put together

The Daily Mirror moved to the north tonight to show our loyal readers exactly how the paper is put together on a daily basis.

Our news conference was held in a city centre hotel watched by the people who buy the paper every day.

They were given the chance to see how we choose the front page story and which photos are used on each page.

The project called “Mirror Live” saw Mirror executives head north from our HQ in London to meet the readers.

Daily Mirror reader Rhys Blanchard, 20, from Salford Quays said:  “It’s been an absolutely privilege to come along and see how such an iconic paper works.

“It’s has been fascinating to see how the paper is put together.”

Editor Alison Phillips said: “It has been great to come to Manchester and show our dedicated and loyal readers how we put the paper together.

“We plan to visit other cities in the coming months.”

Mirror columnists including Fiona Phillips, Kevin Maguire and Paul Routledge took reader questions.

Fiona Phillips described how The Mirror related to ordinary people’s lives.

She said that she sent her children to state school and one of her sons had lost three of his friends to knife crime.

“I really admire the journalism of the Mirror and everyone I deal with is so brilliant.

They understand the hard times people go through but also how brilliant life can be,” she said.

Kevin Maguire described working for The Mirror as ‘an easy magic carpet ride’.
