Daily Mail 'star' of police raid story

According to New Statesman media columnist Peter Wilby, "the surprising star" of the Forest Gate police raid that led to a man being shot, was the Daily Mail. "It hedged its bets from the start", he writes, and then commissioned the spy expert Phillip Knightley to write by far the best account of the events that led up to the raid.
