Daily COVID tally continues to climb with 514 new ACT cases

The ACT has reported 514 new cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm Sunday, as a staff member in an aged care home tests positive.

The new cases bring the active total to 2116.

This comes after 506 cases were reported on Sunday, up from the tally on New Year's Day of 448 cases reported.

There are 11 people in hospital because of COVID, with two in intensive care and one on ventilation.

Meanwhile, ACT Health has not released fresh close contact exposure sites since December 31.

There were 3018 negative tests received in the 24 hours to 9am Monday,

Meantime, the percentage of the eligible population who are now fully vaccinated remains at 98.5 per cent.

NSW has recorded 20,794 new COVID-19 cases and four more deaths from the virus.

The cases were diagnosed from 96,765 tests processed in the 24 hours to 8pm on Sunday.

There are currently 1204 people in NSW hospitals with the virus, 95 in intensive care after figures jumped overnight.

Victoria has recorded an all-time high of new daily cases with 8577 testing positive, and three deaths.

The number of Victorian coronavirus patients in hospital care has risen to 491, of those, 56 are classified as active ICU cases and 24 are on ventilators.

In total, Victoria is managing 38,118 active COVID-19 cases.

Tasmania has reported 466 new COVID-19 cases.

The state's health department confirmed the new infections on Monday, as active infections rose to 1691 cases.

Tasmania's previous daily case high of 428 was reported on Saturday.

Fifty-six cases are being cared for at community case management facilities and 278 are being managed at home.
