INDORE: The district has reported a 61% decline in daily COVID-19 sampling in the last two weeks, showed comparative analysis of bulletin.
The daily bulletin comparison showed that sampling dipped to 2452 on Wednesday night from 6423 on February 28. This 2452 sampling in a day is the lowest in the day during pandemic post it's outbreak when it began to surge.
A senior health official involved in sampling told TOI, “Sampling in the district are done based on the guidelines which is revised from time to time based on weekly positivity rate, fatalities, infection number, and others.” “In the district, the new cases have reported a drastic dip in the daily infections since february, but sampling reduced very slightly”, said the official.
“Samplings are done through two ways in the district. The teams collect samples from crowded places directly while people walking to OPD’s in fever clinics with symptoms are also sampled. The private pathology also tests samples”, said CMHO Dr BS Saitya.
"In the post-peak period, the sampling at OPD of fever clinics dip because of decline in footfall at these health institutes affecting the overall numbers along with private pathologies”, said Dr Saitya explaining the dip in sampling.
The sampling began to go down with decline in pandemic virus cases after spike in third wave from last week of January. The pace of sampling dip increased later in February.
As many as 37.58 lakh samples were tested till day. Of those, 207693 were tested positive. The district witnessed 206197 cured persons and 1461 fatalities so far, showed bulletin.
