The UK is reporting the lowest number of daily coronavirus infections since October 2.
According to the latest data published by the government, 30,305 new people had a confirmed positive test result reported today (Sunday, November 7).
This figure marks a drop from 30,693 on Saturday, November 6, and just over 38,000 this time last week.
Between November 1 and 7 November 7, 247,537 people had a confirmed positive test result - showing a decrease of 12.9 per cent compared to the previous 7 days.
In the latest figures on the number of people who have died from Covid-19, there are another 62 people have died within 28 days of a positive test as of today, compared to 155 on Saturday and 74 a week ago.
The total number of people to have died within 28 days of testing positive for coronavirus now stands at 141,805, say government figures.
However, while infections have been decreasing, the seven-day average of hospital admissions and deaths has increased by 3 per cent and 6.8 per cent respectively.
This is likely to be reflective of the high rate of infections in recent weeks, as hospital admissions and deaths tend to lag behind the updates on coronavirus case updates.
The UK has also achieved a new milestone in its booster vaccine rollout, reaching more than 10 million jabs given out as government leaders encourage those eligible to get boosters.
