The League Two strugglers Dagenham & Redbridge have sacked their manager Wayne Burnett.

Burnett leaves Victoria Road with the Daggers bottom of the table but only two points off York who are currently 22nd.

Warren Hackett and Darren Currie remain at the club and have taken charge on a temporary basis.

Dagenham are without a league win since 24 November and a club statement read: “It is with regret that Dagenham & Redbridge Football Club announce that manager Wayne Burnett has left the club.

“Both Wayne and the board of Dagenham & Redbridge Football Club felt a change in manager was necessary in order to turn around the team’s fortunes.

“Whilst the search is now under way for Wayne’s replacement, Warren Hackett and Darren Currie will take care of first-team affairs until a replacement is named.

“Wayne provided the club with stability following John Still’s departure to Luton Town in February 2013, initially in an interim basis and was the 15th longest-serving manager in the league.

“He departs the Chigwell Construction Stadium with the club’s very best wishes together with thanks for his achievement in helping the club to ninth and 14th-place finishes in League Two for the past two seasons together with an FA Cup third-round tie at Everton to be played next month.”
