Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was killed in a hit-and-run in east London.

Officers rushed to Heathway, Dagenham, at the junction with Oxlow Lane just after 6am on Thursday to reports of a two-car crash.

A male driver of one car was pronounced dead at the scene. Police are still tracing his next of kin, Scotland Yard said.

The occupants of the other car fled on foot and are yet to be found.

The London Ambulance Service also attended the scene.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “Officers are appealing for anyone who was in the area and witnessed the collision, or the events leading up to the collision, or drivers who may have recorded events on dashcam footage to contact police.”

Anyone with information can contact 101 quoting log 397 of April 30 or call Crimestoppers anonymously.
