Daft burglar caught hiding in a BIN wearing the coat of the woman he targeted

A burglar was caught by police hiding in a bin - wearing the coat of the woman he targeted.

Lee Ullah broke into the woman's house in Oldham in the early hours of the morning on November 25 last year.

She woke up at 6am to find him inside, police said, before noticing that the TV was missing.

She then challenged him, but he fled the scene, on Robinson Street in Chadderton, wearing her coat.

Officers later found him hiding in a bin, still wearing the coat.

Ullah, 47, was charged with burglary after this incident and a string of others.

On July 7 last year, he targeted a commercial premises on Yorkshire Street causing £10,000 worth of damage and stealing £10,000 worth of property.

He then tried to sell one of the items in a local shop, GMP said.

On November 25 last year, he also tried to burgle a house on Whitstable Close in Chadderton.

He caused another £10,000 worth of damage by smashing a huge roof in the roof before climbing through it.

Ullah, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to two counts of burglary and criminal damage.

Yesterday (February 15), a judge at Minshull Street Crown Court jailed him for three years and nine months.

The investigation and subsequent charges were carried out by GMP's Oldham Divisional Crime Team.
