Daeshon Hall deserves extended playing time with Eagles struggling to rush the passer

The Philadelphia Eagles are struggling to pressure the quarterback, only registering two total sacks so far on the young NFL season. With the Birds battling injuries at defensive tackle and defensive end, it’s time for Jim Schwartz to give Daeshon Hall extended playing time.

It definitely can’t hurt to give the talented defensive end reps on the edge and at tackle, after a preseason that saw Hall rack up four sacks and three forced fumbles, earning a place on the 53-man roster. Vinny Cury has been ineffective against the pass, while Josh Sweat has rarely played over these first three weeks. Both Curry and Sweat have accounted for five total tackles, no sacks, no tackles for loss nor have they accounted for any quarterback hits.

In a world where the Pro Football Focus’s of the world register and grade pass rush proficiency, the duo of Sweat and Vinny Curry have produced no pass rush whatsoever.

Hall shouldn’t take snaps from Brandon Graham or Barnett, but it wouldn’t hurt to slide him at the end or tackle on obvious passing downs, to see if he can stir up some pressure for a pass rush that has let the Eagles secondary down the first three weeks of the season.

Hall is active against the Packers and should get the chance to show what he can do.
