If, like many, you’re wondering what’s gotten into Marjorie Taylor Greene lately — the formerly MAGA-loyal Georgia rep bucking the Donald Trump playbook on several occasions — Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez offers one possible explanation.
In a TikTok post, AOC describes what she calls “tea” from the halls of Congress. According to AOC, “Marjorie Taylor Greene wanted to run for Senate in Georgia,” as a Republican. According to Ocasio-Cortez, she was gearing up for that statewide race, “and Trump told her, ‘No.'”
“The White House and Trump-land,” AOC says, shut down MTG’s personal ambitions to run for Georgia Senate, “and she has been on a revenge tour ever since.” A comment on independent journalist Brian Allen’s X post, which shared AOC’s theory, agreed.
“It’s just a ploy to get daddy’s attention by acting out while possibly gaining blue votes for [an] independent run for Senate,” the comment said.
Did Greene’s appearance on “The View” prove AOC’s “tea?”

Allen shared AOC’s post the same day Greene appeared on The View. In her appearance, Greene took a markedly more composed and conciliatory tone than her typical media persona. She praised the hosts for maintaining a “professional and kind” dialogue rather than engaging in the kind of combative back-and-forth many expected.
Greene also acknowledged that people expected her to “come on the show and say nasty things … all of us to fight,” but said she “didn’t want to do that today.” She further emphasized that women working together can “sew” back together a country torn apart by division.
Greene admits she’s a “victim” of “lies”

HOSTIN: “You don’t believe in QAnon anymore? You’ve changed?”
MTG: “No, I haven’t changed. I was a victim—just like you were—of media lies and stuff you read on social media.”

However, Greene’s View spot felt especially out of character for the specific departures from her previously publicized positions. Greene also distanced herself from past conspiracy theory associations, such as QAnon, by saying she was a victim, “of social media lies and stuff you read on social media.”
And though she reaffirmed being “America first” and a Republican, she acknowledged breaking with parts of her party, such as on the government shutdown and foreign-aid issues in the Gaza war.
MAGA = America last?
MTG just torched her own party:

“Health care crisis? Ignored.
Wages? Flat.
Bills? Sky high.
And you think this wins midterms?”
She says her electricity bill is up $100 since last year — and accuses Republicans of abandoning “America First.”

Furthermore, Greene’s appearance on The View is just the latest example of Greene’s recent break from parts of Trump’s second-term agenda and the evolving rift she perceives with the Republican Party.
While she still expresses loyalty to Trump, she has publicly criticized key elements of his second-term policy platform, labeling it “America Last” for emphasizing foreign wars and foreign aid rather than domestic issues like health care, jobs, and rising costs. Greene also departed from Trump on the Jeffrey Epstein scandal.
Moreover, supporting AOC’s claims, observers widely speculated Greene could be a strong potential candidate for the 2026 Senate race in Georgia, a seat currently held by Jon Ossoff. In May 2025, however, she announced she would not run for Georgia’s U.S. Senate seat in 2026, calling the Senate “where good ideas go to die” and blasting both parties for inaction. Instead, she said she’ll focus on her House role while continuing to criticize GOP leadership and distance herself from establishment Republicans.
Even still, it remains to be seen whether Greene’s transformation reflects an authentic personal awakening or, as AOC claims, a retaliatory “revenge tour” after Trump and his allies blocked her.
