The dad, from Drolysden, would continually put his partner down and make her feel 'powerless', the court heard.
Their relationship started in 2010 and together they had a son, now seven, plus the victim's daughter from a previous relationship.
In 2016, while pregnant for the second time with Martin, she asked him to leave.
When Martin went to collect his belongings, he demanded that she have an abortion.
It was just the start of a catalogue of verbal and emotional abuse.

Later in April that year, Martin returned 'begging' for another chance and the pair reconciled.
Prosecuting, Gavin Howie told the court: "The defendant came and went as he pleased with no regard for the children.
"[She] felt powerless to do anything about his behaviour and said she felt trapped in the relationship.
"She couldn't see a way out of her predicament."
In another humiliating incident, Martin abandoned her and the children in Blackpool after an argument.
"She took the children back to the hotel to find that he had gone and taken his things with him," the prosecutor added.
"He had left her in Blackpool with the children with no way of getting home."
Martin only returned five hours later after his girlfriend begged for him to collect them.
The mum-of-two said she felt dependant on Martin because of the way he 'put her down'.
Mr Howie added: "She felt like he had some sort of power over her and controlled her.
"He treated her anyway he wanted, including being violent towards her."
He punched the mum-of-two in the face in March 2015, leaving her with a broken her tooth plus a cut and bruising to her eye.
He assaulted her again on her son's third birthday in 2017 after returning from the pub drunk, the court heard.
Martin started 'slapping and hitting her' and pushed her to the ground, striking her on her lower back.
When the woman found the courage to end the relationship, his abuse and unwanted contact continued.
Since 2017, she received more than 2,000 emails from Martin despite telling him to leave her alone.
He was convicted of breaching a non-molestation order on three occasions in 2015.
She said it was only through a domestic violence advocate that she felt she'd been finally believed and listened to by the police.
Martin was arrested on March 1, 2019 and eventually pleaded guilty to two counts of actual bodily harm (ABH) and one count of controlling and coercive behaviour.
Jonathan Turner, defending, said his client had not breached the conditions of his bail in the two-and-a-half years since his arrest.
Judge Mark Savill accepted that the history of the case was 'lengthy and complicated', but pointed out that Martin only changed his plea to guilty on the day a trial was due to go ahead.
Martin, of Lumb Lane in Droylsden, was jailed for two years and handed an indefinite restraining order barring him from contacting or going near his victim.
