A dad accused of killing his wife and four kids complained he was tired of her constant "nagging, poking and prodding."
Michael Jones is accused of killing Casei Jones after he claims she accused him of cheating and bombarded him with texts, calling him a terrible person who couldn’t do anything right.
Police documents state he told officers that weeks later he killed Cameron Bowers, 10, and Preston Bowers, five.
A few days later after he reportedly went to turn himself in but 'couldn't face it' and returned home to kill Mercalli Jones, two, and one-year-old Aiyana Jones.
The documents state when asked why he killed the children, he told detectives it was because they were related to Casei and he was mad at her.
He also claimed: "Just everything mounted up and it seemed like the way out."
He was eventually arrested after police discovered his wife's body in his van following a car crash, according to the documents. He had allegedly already buried his children on the side of the road.
A video of him being interviewed by police and photos of two scenes in Georgia where the bodies were found was among evidence released by prosecutors in Marion County on Thursday.
In the interview he admitted there had been marital issues and money problems, complaining that there was constant “nagging, poking and prodding” by his wife, reports News 4 Jax .
Most of the interview has been redacted by law but there are several snippets where he gives his version of their relationship - including accusing his wife of being verbally abusive.
Describing a time he was trying to sleep, he said: "I’m laying on the floor, on my belly, and she’s got her phone with the flashlight in my face, like right in my face, and I just, it just wouldn’t stop.
"It was several hours of that kind of stuff,” Jones said. "The strain of it all, I guess it just caught up with me,” Michael Jones told detectives.
"It was just building up, building up, building up. Before I knew it, it was too much."
In a 142 page document from the Marion County Sheriff's Office released in October Jones told detectives he killed his wife on July 10 after they got into an argument.
He claimed she accused him of cheating, which led to an intense argument, during which she grabbed a baseball bat, which he then grabbed off her and beat her to death with.
Weeks later, he killed the four children by either choking or drowning them and told police it was because they were related to Casei and he was mad at her, the report states.
According to the documents, Jones told detectives he choked Cameron first, then drowned Preston in the bathtub the next night.
According to the report, a few days later, he told detectives he went to the Belleview City Hall to turn himself in, but couldn't work up the courage.
He returned home and then killed Mercalli and Aiyana by separately drowning them in a bathtub, the papers state.
It's believed he kept the bodies of Casei, Cameron, Preston, Mercalli and Aiyana in his van until September 16 when he drove them to Charlton County in Georgia, to bury his children on the side of the road.
He then travelled to Georgia's Brantley County with his wife’s body, but was arrested after he called police following a crash.
He reportedly confessed to police after they said they could smell a "foul" odour coming from his van.
The documents show Jones told detectives he had a clear mind when he killed his family.
When detectives asked him if he had anything to relay to the family, he said: "Sorry's don't do (expletive), and Florida has the death penalty, so that's good."
The evidence released includes video from body cameras worn by investigators as they searched the Jones home, where detectives were told the home smelled badly before it was cleaned by a cleaning crew.
Also released was a voicemail from Jones’ ex-wife and biological mother of two of the children, Sarah Jones, who now lives in Jacksonville, when she heard Casei was missing.
In it she says: "It was really quick ... visit with the kids, so I only can confirm I saw Michael.
"But it’s actually been a while since I saw Casei in person.
"For what it’s worth, a lot of drama comes along with her, so I would be very surprised if this were not just some sort of stunt, if I may say so."
There was also a statement from Casei's ex-husband, who told police Michael Jones had a history of being abusive towards Casei Jones and the children.
Police were alerted that the family were missing in September after Casei's family hadn't seen or heard from her in six weeks.
Why they didn’t report her missing earlier isn’t known at this stage.
Her mother Nikki told Fox35 before her the bodies were discovered: “I've never ever been so scared."
Jones is in the Marion County jail and is due back in court in January after he waved an appearance to be arraigned over the deaths back in October.
