A "thoughtful" dad died at the age of 40 due to an undiagnosed heart condition.
Gareth Moore, from St Helens, is remembered by his wife Helen as a "thoughtful" husband who "would always speak up for those without a voice."
Gareth, known as Gaz, died in January as a result of an undiagnosed heart condition at the age of just 40. Following the insulation worker's death his employer, Knauf, has raised over £2,000 to purchase two defibrillators for the local community, with one being donated to St Helens Sea Cadets and the other going to Pilkington’s Recs ARLFC Rugby Club.

Helen said: “Gaz was a thoughtful and understanding husband and a hands-on dad. Our son plays rugby at Pilks and Gaz, who played as a child, was keen to support his passion and the club. He was the type of person who always spoke up for those who didn’t have a voice and would do whatever he could to help people.
"His passing was so unexpected, and he’s left a huge hole in our lives. So, we wanted to do something to support the people and organisations he cared about, such as Pilks, while helping to prevent other families from suffering the way we have.
“The Defib appeal has given us a focus because it’s something we can do in his memory. I know he would be over the moon with the donations from Knauf Insulation but maybe also a little embarrassed about all the fuss.”

Sean Ashall from the Knauf Insulation St Helens plant community team said: “It was a huge shock when Gaz passed away. He was a popular member of the plant and was such a generous and thoughtful man.
“We knew his wife Helen was keen to increase the number of defibrillators in the local community and she had already raised the funds needed to purchase one for the local gym where Gaz trained. So, we decided to support this vital initiative by holding a 6.5km sponsored walk around Tatton Park. It was a fantastic way for us all to come together and share our memories of him and do something good for the community too. We were delighted to have raised enough money to buy two defibrillators.”
John Rees of Pilkington’s Recs ARLFC Rugby Club said: "A massive thanks to Knauf Insulation for providing this life saving equipment for our club and to Helen Moore for signposting this to Pilks. It gives us the peace of mind to know that if the worst ever happens, we have the equipment in place needed to save lives."
