Dad who abducted eight-year-old Bristol boy believed to have left UK

A family court judge has asked for help in locating a Bristol lad who has been abducted by his dad.

Angelo Jurado-Marmolejo, who turns nine next month, was taken from Bristol by his father Rafael Jurado Cabello on March 2.

The pair are believed to have left the UK.

Today (March 26) the lad's mum Karol Marmolejo issued a desperate plea for her son's safe return home, saying she misses "the morning cuddles he asks for every day".

A special hearing was held at Bristol Civil and Family Justice Centre, in Redcliff Street this morning, presided over by Judge Nicholas Marston.

The court heard this is the second time Angelo's father had abducted him, and he has previously embarked in a deliberate campaign to alienate Angelo from his mother.

The judge told invited members of the press: "I need your help.

"It is a very, very serious matter.

"It is one of those cases where the oxygen of publicity is an advantage, not a disadvantage.

"Angelo is a little Bristolian boy.

"He's spent virtually all of his life here in the care if his mother."

Dad deliberately alienated Angelo from his mum

Angelo's mum last saw him on March 2, shortly before he was taken to a court-ordered contact visit with his father, whose last known address was in Puente Genil in Cordoba, Spain.

The lad was handed to his father at 11.30am on March 2 and was due to be returned to his mother's care at 5.30pm, but was not.

Angelo's father previously abducted him in February 2017, when he retained him in Spain after a visit during half term.

On that occasion, court proceedings were required to secure his return to his mum.

In the family court case which followed, the court found Angelo's father had embarked in a deliberate campaign to alienate Angelo from his mum during the time Angelo was in his care in Spain, and his dad could not meet Angelo's emotional needs.

As a result contact was monitored for a time and then Rafael's passport and national identity card were handed over during contact visits to prevent re-abduction, although those handed over appear to be fake.

Despite those safeguards, Angelo has been abducted for a second time and it is believed it was a pre-planned event.

It is now three weeks since the lad was seen and professionals including the family court are increasingly concerned for his welfare.

On March 11 the family court made an order which required the lad's dad to return Angelo to his mum's care immediately, but he has not done so.

Believed to have left UK

It is believed Mr Jurado Cabello has left the UK with Angelo but his whereabouts are unknown.

Mr Jurado Cabello is white, 5ft 6ins/7ins tall and slim with black hair.

Angelo is white, eight years old and has short wavy dark brown hair and dark brown eyes. He is 4ft 6ins tall and was last seen wearing a red coat and carrying a blue rucksack.
