Dad travels 40 miles every day to give drug addict son £50 to feed his habit

In his new ITV documentary on homelessness Ross Kemp comes across a homeless heroin addict in Cardiff whose father takes a 40-mile round trip every day to ensure his son has money.

In Ross Kemp's Living With.... Homelessness episode, which aired on Thursday on ITV, the presenter visited the Huggard Centre and meets 25-year-old Nathan and his dad David.

David, who gives most of his wage away each week to his son, says: “Otherwise he’ll go and pinch. We don’t know what to do. He’s all I got and all he’s got is me.

“It’s really painful. It breaks my heart because I can feel what he’s going through. He’s killing himself. I'm just waiting for a phone call to say he's not coming back.”

In heartbreaking scenes Nathan immediately spends most of the £50 his dad has given him on heroin and crack cocaine, saving the final tenner for spice. He then uses the drugs in Dumballs Road.

Ross Kemp's Living With....Homelessness was on ITV Wales on Thursday night.
