Dad tells son he's off to Disneyland in brutal prank - only to crush his dreams

If you're still smarting from a particularly effective April Fools', spare a thought for Joe Heenan's little lad.

Pretty much every child dreams of going to Disneyland, and in a brutal masterstroke, Joe tricked his son into believing that this was where they were headed, the Daily Record reports.

He even had his son pack a suitcase, his heart full and ready for the holiday of a lifetime.

So where did Joe, from Glasgow, take his son instead?

About as far from Disneyland as you can get when you're a kid: Poundland .

Joe later shared a photo on Twitter of son posing glumly outside the discount retail giant - still with his suitcase.

He wrote: "I told him we were going on holiday to a place ending with land.

"He was like 'Oh my god! Is it Disneyland?' He was so excited.

"Hahahahaha! #AprilFools."

Absolutely cutthroat prankster behaviour.

Joe's tweet quickly got a lot of attention, and plenty of people thought his trick was comic genius.

"HAHAHA you're a belter. Great April Fools," wrote one fan.

"Lol this is amazing!" agreed another.

"Genius," added another man.

However, being such a high-stakes prank, there was also some backlash from people who thought it was cruel.

"That's actually sad. Should take him to Disneyland to make up for it," read one comment.

"No, that’s not nice. Please buy him whatever he wants," chided someone else.

Joe's son is no stranger to being pranked by his dad.

Last year he gave the schoolboy an Apple iPhone box on April 1. But instead of a brand new smart phone inside, he'd hidden a real apple with a paper keyboard stuck on front.
